I would not recommend using Starbird Piano & Organ for resale of any instrument. My experience with them was less than satisfactory. Once my piano was placed in their store a week passed with no contact from them. I had to initiate several phone calls to find out what they were doing with my piano and calls were not returned in a timely manner. I was quoted a potential selling price on the phone which sounded quite good however once the instrument arrived in their showroom John put a sign on it with a much lower price than we had discussed. When I saw the price he told me that it was going to be difficult to sell even though it was in mint condition. In the next conversation he told me that he has many calls and business is very busy with customer calls for pianos. When I expressed my concern about such a low selling price John told me I could ask more but he did not know if it would sell and he did not want the instrument to be sitting in his store for a long time. He finally added a few hundred dollars on at my request and within a couple of days called to say he had a buyer, however the buyer offered the exact low price that he had suggested. :( which was a steal. I agreed to it because I needed the money but never felt good about the transaction. Once I was told the instrument was sold I again did not hear back from them. I had to make several more phone calls to get a response. It took several weeks for me to get him to follow up on a check. Initially I was promised that the store would put its best effort forward and work hard to sell my piano for me but I feel I was ripped off and the store was dishonest in their dealings with me. They did not work hard or try their best and made a huge profit. They sell low give you 60% and keep 40% so no matter what the selling price is they make more than reasonable profit. There are also others fees that are added on and deducted from your profit.
